Man carrying 102 kg of illegal fireworks crashes into police to escape in Vietnam

Vietnamese police in Quang Tri province have arrested a man attempting to smuggle over 100 kilograms of illegal fireworks. The suspect, identified as P.K.V., 28, was apprehended on August 1 after a dramatic attempt to evade capture. During a routine patrol on National Highway 9, traffic police detected a man riding a motorcycle without a license plate, carrying suspicious black packages. When officers signaled him to stop for inspection, the suspect refused and instead rammed his motorcycle into the police team in an effort to escape. Authorities pursued the fleeing motorcyclist, eventually apprehending him at Km39+800 in Huong Hiep commune. A search of the motorcycle revealed six black packages wrapped in plastic. P.K.V. confessed that the packages contained illegal explosive fireworks manufactured in China. In total, authorities seized 54 boxes of fireworks, each containing 49 tubes, with a combined weight of 102 kilograms. The seized contraband has been confiscated, and the police are continuing their investigation into the smuggling operation.
