Man Charged with Murder Over Girlfriend Dispute in Vietnam

Authorities in Vietnam's Vinh Long province have charged Tran Van Phuong, 38, with murder following a fatal stabbing. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over Phuong's girlfriend, identified as N.T.N.P., 40.

According to initial investigations, Phuong became aware that his girlfriend was having a meal with another man, P.M.H., 41. An argument ensued, escalating to a physical confrontation. Reports indicate that Phuong went to his girlfriend's rented accommodation, armed with a knife, and waited for P.M.H. When P.M.H. arrived, he also produced a makeshift weapon, and a struggle began.

During the altercation, P.M.H. reportedly struck Phuong on the head. Phuong retaliated by stabbing P.M.H. in the hip. He continued to attack the victim multiple times. After the stabbing, Phuong transported the injured P.M.H. to a hospital by motorcycle before fleeing the scene. Security cameras at the accommodation captured the events. P.M.H. later died from his injuries. Phuong subsequently surrendered to the police and confessed to the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
