Man Dies After Alleged Mob Beating in Dhaka on Mugging Suspicion

An unidentified man, believed to be around 30 years old, died in Dhaka's Jatrabari area after allegedly being beaten by a mob on suspicion of mugging. The incident took place near a public toilet at the Jatrabari intersection around 3:00 PM on Monday.

According to witnesses Sabuj Howlader and Israfil, who took the injured man to the hospital, locals claimed he had snatched a woman's earring. He was reportedly caught and beaten by passersby while attempting to flee. The man was initially transported to Mitford Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:45 PM.

Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Rafiqul Islam confirmed that the man's body bore multiple injury marks. Police have requested assistance from the CID's forensic team to help establish the victim's identity. Two individuals, Israfil and an Ansar member named Sabuj, were taken into custody from the hospital for questioning regarding their involvement in transporting the victim and their accounts of the incident.
