Police officer's shirt similarity to suspect's sparks questions in Rangpur murder case

Questions have arisen in Rangpur, Bangladesh, following a police officer and a murder suspect being seen in apparently similar shirts. Sanatan Chakrabarty, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, visited a crime scene wearing a shirt that bore a striking resemblance to one worn by suspect Siddhartha Das when he was presented in court.

I have known Siddhartha for a long time and have never seen him wear the shirt he was wearing when he was taken to court. Perhaps the police gave it to him.

Eyewitnesses and locals noted the similarity. A resident, Shibu Das, commented that he had never seen Siddhartha wear such a shirt and speculated police might have provided it. Siddhartha's elder brother, Partha Das, asserted that his brother was detained wearing a black vest and did not own the shirt in question. Their father, Binoy Das, who was present at the crime scene, also mentioned seeing a police officer in a similar shirt.

However, Sanatan Chakrabarty denied the shirt he wore was given to the suspect. He stated the shirt remains with him and was purchased from the retailer Aarong. Chakrabarty suggested that shirts of the same design can be commonly owned. The apparent similarity has sparked discussion on social media platforms, with numerous posts questioning the connection being widely shared.
