Man sets himself on fire in Romanian street, saved by police

A dramatic incident unfolded in Deva, Romania, on Tuesday evening when a 31-year-old man set himself on fire in the street. The quick intervention of traffic police prevented a tragedy, as officers on patrol noticed the man engulfed in flames around 8:15 PM.

Law enforcement officers immediately used fire extinguishers from their patrol car to extinguish the fire and save the young man. After receiving initial medical assistance at the scene, an ambulance was called. The man, identified as a 31-year-old resident of Deva known to have medical conditions, was transported to the hospital for specialized examination and treatment.

The incident shocked bystanders who witnessed the event. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the self-immolation. This incident follows similar, tragic events in Romania earlier in the year, including a 67-year-old man who died after setting himself on fire in April and a 32-year-old pregnant woman who did the same last year.
