Man tests positive for drugs, arrested with 60,000 smuggled cigarettes in luxury vehicle

Malaysian authorities intercepted a 37-year-old man driving a luxury Toyota Vellfire, allegedly transporting 60,000 smuggled white cigarettes. The arrest occurred early Tuesday morning in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, after the man was stopped while driving from Pasir Puteh.

During the stop, officers discovered the large quantity of cigarettes, and the driver was unable to provide any documentation for the goods. Further checks revealed the man tested positive for amphetamines. He was taken to the Pengkalan Kubor police station for further investigation.

The vehicle was found to contain 60,000 sticks of white cigarettes, suspected to be smuggled.

The suspect reportedly told investigators that he works as a full-time driver for an individual known as 'Bos Jue' and earns RM200 per delivery. He claimed this was his first arrest for smuggling cigarettes and that the Vellfire, registered to someone in Batu Pahat, Johor, was also not his.

The total value of the seized items, including the cigarettes and the vehicle, is estimated at RM207,200. The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.

The suspect claimed he received a payment of RM200 for each delivery and stated this was the first time he had been arrested for smuggling cigarettes.
