Calhanoglu’s Early Goal Gives Inter Milan 1-0 Win Over Cagliari

Hakan Calhanoglu needed only nine minutes to give Inter Milan a 1-0 victory over Cagliari and send the team to the top of the early Serie A standings.

Receiving a pass from Nicolo Barella just outside the penalty area, the Turkish midfielder struck a powerful shot into the left corner of Elia Caprile’s goal. It proved to be the only goal at Sardegna Arena.

Inter created several opportunities to extend its lead. Lautaro Martinez shot wide in the 25th minute, while Federico Dimarco forced Caprile into another save with a volley three minutes later. Lautaro later sent Luis Henrique through, but the Brazilian forward could not finish the chance.

Inter continued to control the match after halftime. Barella supplied Pio Esposito, but Caprile again stopped the attempt. Esposito headed wide in the 59th minute.

Cagliari grew more adventurous as Inter’s attacking pressure eased. The hosts came closest from a corner, when Alessandro Romano’s delivery found Gennaro Borrelli, whose header went over the bar. Inter held on to its narrow lead until the final whistle, moving to six points from two matches. Cagliari remained 12th with three points.
