Marc Márquez wins Aragon MotoGP sprint race

Spanish rider Marc Márquez dominated the Aragon MotoGP sprint race, clinching his fifth victory in the short format this season and the twentieth overall since its introduction. Riding a Ducati Desmosedici GP26, Márquez overcame expectations as the favorite at Motorland to secure the win.

The victory propelled Márquez back into third place in the championship standings, benefiting from the absence of Japan's Ai Ogura due to injury. He was joined on the podium by his brother, Álex Márquez, also on a Ducati Desmosedici GP26, and Italy's Marco Bezzecchi riding an Aprilia RS-GP.

Championship leader Jorge Martín, another Spaniard on an Aprilia RS-GP, finished fifth after a challenging race. Martín currently holds 245 points, leading Bezzecchi by 29 points and Marc Márquez by 33. Bezzecchi had started from pole position but was quickly overtaken by Marc Márquez on the initial braking zone, with Álex Márquez also passing him before the second corner.

Early in the race, a leading trio including Marc Márquez, Álex Márquez, and Bezzecchi established a gap over the pursuing pack. Marc Márquez pushed hard to extend his lead, while several riders encountered issues. Italian riders Luca Marini and Fabio di Giannantonio were early retirements, and Raúl Fernández lost positions due to an error. Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martín engaged in a close battle, with Acosta briefly taking fourth place before Martín regained it. Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha also suffered a mechanical failure and retired.
