Međimurje weathers second storm with less damage

The region of Međimurje in Croatia was once again hit by severe weather on Thursday evening. However, initial reports indicate that the consequences this time were considerably less severe than those experienced the previous day, when hail caused extensive damage to agricultural land.

Residents captured striking images of the approaching storm and dark clouds over Prelog around 8:30 PM, accompanied by rain. The photographs depict spectacular sky formations, hinting at a sudden shift in weather conditions.

This follows a severe hailstorm that struck the northern part of Međimurje County around 10:30 PM on Wednesday, causing substantial damage to crops and fields. The recent storms have understandably caused concern among the local population.

Despite the apprehension, Thursday's weather event appears to have been much kinder to the region. In the Štrigova municipality, for instance, a reader reported experiencing only rain, with no hail or serious repercussions. Overall, the first indications suggest that Međimurje fared significantly better this time compared to the devastation wrought just 24 hours prior.
