Medan BPBD Trains Paskibraka Cadets in Water Rescue for Disaster Preparedness

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Medan City, North Sumatra, has equipped aspiring members of the national flag-raising troop (Paskibraka) with crucial water rescue skills. The training, a collaboration with the Kesbangpol office, aims to bolster the preparedness of young individuals in mitigating risks associated with water accidents.

Yunita, head of BPBD Medan, stated that the program provides fundamental knowledge and skills for the Paskibraka candidates to navigate emergency situations, particularly those involving water safety. The curriculum included comprehensive material on water safety and basic rescue techniques for victims of water accidents.

The training emphasized practical application, with participants engaging in hands-on water rescue simulations. This approach is intended to provide real-world experience and build confidence for actual emergency responses. BPBD believes that emergency preparedness is a vital skill for all citizens, especially the youth, as it directly impacts daily life and can minimize risks during disasters.
