Medical missions to five Dodecanese islands – Mobile Blood Donation Unit included for the first time

Medical missions are set to reach five islands in the Dodecanese archipelago from September to November 2026, enhancing health services for residents, particularly in remote and border areas. The initiative, organized by the non-profit "Galinos" company for the South Aegean Region, will include visits to Symi, Patmos, Kastellorizo, Karpathos, and Kasos.

For the first time in these specific actions, the Mobile Health Unit of the Blood Donation Department of the General Hospital of Rhodes will also participate, providing the opportunity for blood draws and serving volunteer donors directly on the islands.

A significant addition this year is the participation of a mobile blood donation unit from the General Hospital of Rhodes. This mobile unit will allow for blood collection directly on the islands, serving volunteer donors without requiring them to travel to Rhodes. The unit's first stop will be the remote island of Kastellorizo from October 16-19, as part of the broader medical mission there.

The medical missions commence with Symi from September 4-6, followed by Patmos from September 11-13. In October, Kastellorizo will be visited from the 16th to the 19th, and Karpathos from the 29th to the 31st. The program concludes with a visit to Kasos from November 12-14.
