Melaka Election: BN to contest all 21 seats, no compromise

Barisan Nasional (BN) in Melaka is firm on contesting all 21 state seats in the upcoming election, with no room for compromise on this stance. Melaka BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ab. Rauf Yusoh emphasized that these 21 seats represent the non-negotiable boundary for any discussions regarding political cooperation with other parties.

"We will not compromise on the 21 seats because that is the boundary for discussion," Ab. Rauf stated. He welcomed potential partners but stressed that any collaboration must be based on rational and reasonable grounds. He also noted that any final decisions would require approval from the UMNO Supreme Council.

Ab. Rauf, who also serves as the Chief Minister, indicated that the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly is a known fact, suggesting that the state election could be held at any moment. He playfully commented on the timing of the dissolution, preferring to maintain an element of surprise rather than revealing it in advance.

The chairman's remarks came after the closing ceremony of the Melaka Digital Village Alignment Workshop. The focus on the 21 seats underscores BN's confidence and strategic position heading into the anticipated state polls.
