Mexico City identifies networks linked to property dispossession

Mexico City's prosecutor's office has identified organized networks involved in property dispossession crimes, according to Prosecutor General Bertha Alcalde Luján. These networks are being investigated as priority targets as part of the Fiscalía del Despojo's work.

Alcalde Luján stated that the investigation aims to identify individuals responsible for dispossession while also uncovering systematic criminal networks. She noted that while individual cases are investigated to determine responsibility, the office is also focused on identifying groups that might be conducting this activity systematically.

Regarding a specific case of alleged attempted dispossession on Matías Romero street in Colonia Del Valle, Alcalde Luján confirmed that the investigation is progressing, but it is too early to determine if a dedicated network is behind it. For this particular case in the Benito Juárez mayor's office, only one complaint has been filed since July 21.

The prosecutor plans to meet with residents of Colonia Del Valle to provide updates on the investigation and listen to their concerns about the problem. So far this year, 1,846 investigation files have been opened for the crime of dispossession in the city.
