Mexico City Police Impound Motorcycles, Seize Plates in Calzada de Tlalpan Operation

Mexico City traffic police have carried out an operation to clear and organize public roads along Calzada de Tlalpan, focusing on the "La Gran Tenochtitlán" bike lane. The operation, conducted by officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security's (SSC) Traffic Control Undersecretariat, resulted in the impoundment of 14 motorcycles and one vehicle, with 13 license plates taken as guarantees for payment of fines.

The SSC stated that the objective of the deployment was to safeguard the integrity of cyclists and ensure the correct use of the roadway. This action comes after reports highlighted difficulties faced by cyclists on La Gran Tenochtitlán, particularly at night. Users have reported issues such as lane invasions, lack of lighting from other cyclists, and flooding after rain.

The operation underscores efforts to improve safety and order on the city's cycling infrastructure. By enforcing regulations and removing improperly parked vehicles, authorities aim to create a more secure environment for cyclists and promote adherence to traffic laws.
