Mexico Dominates CAC Games for Third Straight Edition; Pulido Shines with 11 Medals

Mexico cemented its dominance at the Central American and Caribbean Games (JCC) in Santo Domingo, clinching the overall medal count for the third consecutive edition. The nation amassed an impressive 407 medals, with 167 gold, 125 silver, and 115 bronze, during the 25th edition of the regional multi-sport event held from July 24 to August 8, 2026.

Swimmer Celia Pulido emerged as a star of the games, capturing 11 medals – eight gold, one silver, and two bronze – and setting three regional records. The 23-year-old athlete reached the podium in every session she competed in, excelling in both individual and relay events. Swimming alone contributed 39 medals to Mexico's tally, including 22 golds.

Mexico's performance surpassed its previous records. In San Salvador four years prior, the team won 353 medals (145 gold), and in Barranquilla 2018, they secured 341 medals (132 gold). This latest victory saw Mexico comfortably ahead of other participating nations.

Colombia secured second place in the overall medal standings with 266 medals (91 gold, 98 silver, 77 bronze), while Cuba finished third with 155 medals (51 gold, 48 silver, 56 bronze). Venezuela ranked fourth with 216 medals (49 gold), the host nation Dominican Republic fifth with 150 medals (46 gold), and Puerto Rico sixth with 124 medals (34 gold). Guatemala was the top-ranked Central American nation, placing seventh overall.
