Mexico Seizes Over 173,000 Liters of Fuel in Hidalgo, Discovers Six Illegal Taps

Authorities in Hidalgo, Mexico, have seized a significant quantity of fuel, confiscating 173,800 liters and discovering six clandestine taps linked to a Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) pipeline. The operation occurred in the Ex-Haciendas Rancho Cadena neighborhood of Mineral de la Reforma.

The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), through its Specialized Regional Control Unit, acted on information regarding hydrocarbon theft in the area. Following the issuance of a search warrant, federal ministerial police and AIC criminal investigation experts conducted a search of the property.

During the operation, six illegal taps were found connected to the Pemex pipeline, with three directly feeding into the property. Law enforcement, along with Civil Protection and local police forces, secured the perimeter to mitigate risks. This seizure represents one of the largest finds of its kind in the state, where fuel theft remains a persistent problem.

The discovered taps have been disabled, and the seized fuel and evidence have been handed over to the FGR in Hidalgo. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the individuals involved in these illicit activities.
