Michigan shooting suspect found dead after manhunt, police say

A manhunt in northern Michigan concluded Friday with the suspected gunman and another individual found dead, the Michigan State Police announced on social media. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, is accused of fatally shooting five people at a residence earlier that day.

Authorities were dispatched to a home in Missaukee County following reports of a shooting, where they discovered three deceased individuals and one wounded person. Hickman had fled the scene before troopers arrived, initiating a search. During the manhunt, investigators found another deceased victim at a second location.

Hickman's vehicle was later located near Whitlock Lake, leading to the discovery of him and another person deceased. "This situation is heartbreaking for the community and challenging for the investigators involved," stated Lieutenant Ashley Miller in the police statement. The names, ages, and genders of the victims have not been released as next-of-kin notifications are ongoing.
