Military student dies from suspected heatstroke during training in Turkey

A military student has died from suspected heatstroke during training at the Air Force Command's 18th Main Base Command in Yalova, Turkey. Veli Bilgin, a preparatory class student at the Air War School, passed away at the hospital despite all resuscitation efforts.

The incident occurred during a pre-military training summer camp for Air War School students. At least 10 military students exhibited symptoms of heatstroke following the training session. Four students were subsequently sent to the hospital, and tragically, Veli Bilgin succumbed to his condition.

Three other students who fell ill during the same training are reportedly continuing their treatment in the hospital. One of the hospitalized students is reported to be of foreign nationality. The Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the matter.

This fatality has brought up concerns about potential negligence, especially as a similar event occurred last year. In July, two soldiers undergoing training at the Naval Training Regiment in İskenderun, Hatay, died after being hospitalized with high fever and nausea. Autopsy reports indicated that their deaths were due to multiple organ failure resulting from severe dehydration.
