The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism believes Artificial Intelligence (AI) can significantly streamline the process of travel planning for tourists. Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry, explained that AI assists travelers in obtaining information about their desired destinations simply by using keywords.

This technology caters to the modern traveler's preference for flexible and meaningful journeys. AI enables the delivery of necessary information without manual searching, leveraging social media and official government websites. A key feature is AI's ability to recall a traveler's past behavior and search history, allowing for more personalized and efficient service, such as remembering food or drink preferences for hotel stays.

In response to these advancements, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced "MaiA" (Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia). This platform aims to elevate national tourism services through adaptive and intelligent technology, accessible via indonesia.travel. MaiA is designed in line with the Tourism 5.0 program, serving as a one-stop travel solution that accompanies tourists from the initial dreaming phase through planning, booking, and sharing their experiences.
