MLB's Field of Dreams Game Returns in 2027 with Royals Hosting Red Sox

The beloved Field of Dreams game, inspired by the iconic 1989 film, is set to return to Dyersville, Iowa, in 2027. Major League Baseball and Universal Pictures confirmed that the Kansas City Royals will host the Boston Red Sox for the fourth iteration of the event.

The game is scheduled for August 12, 2027, with the Royals designated as the home team. This matchup will kick off a series between the two clubs, which will then move to Kansas City, Missouri, for a game on August 14 at Kauffman Stadium.

"It will be incredibly special" to play on the Iowa field, a Red Sox organization representative stated, according to MLB. The announcement comes after the third Field of Dreams game, which saw the Philadelphia Phillies secure a 7-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night. Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola delivered a strong performance, while Kyle Schwarber contributed two home runs and three RBIs.

The Field of Dreams game first took place in 2021, with the Chicago White Sox defeating the New York Yankees. The following year, the Chicago Cubs played the Cincinnati Reds. The event was then paused for four seasons due to renovations at the site, which is located adjacent to the farm used in the filming of "Field of Dreams."
