Mobile Mammography Unit Begins Screenings in Gornji Milanovac

Gornji Milanovac is taking a significant step forward in prioritizing women's health with the introduction of a mobile mammography unit. This initiative, spearheaded by the Institute for Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanović Batut," brings crucial breast cancer screening services directly to the community, making early detection more accessible than ever before.

The program is thoughtfully designed to reach the most vulnerable populations. It specifically targets women aged 45 to 69 who have not undergone mammography in the past two years, as well as those over 40 with a close relative diagnosed with breast cancer. This targeted approach ensures that resources are directed towards those who stand to benefit most from early detection, a critical factor in improving treatment outcomes and survival rates.

Operating daily, including weekends, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM within the premises of the Metalac factory, the mobile unit offers convenient access for residents. The logistical arrangements, including appointment scheduling via phone between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM on weekdays, demonstrate a commitment to patient convenience. Furthermore, the local Health Center will proactively contact women within the eligible demographic, ensuring that no one misses this vital opportunity.
