Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Taiwan Intersection Crash

A severe traffic accident in Hualien, Taiwan, left a 64-year-old motorcyclist with critical head injuries after he collided with a car making a right turn. The incident occurred at the intersection of Zhongshan Road Section 5 and Shoushan Road in Shoufeng Township. The motorcyclist was traveling in the outer lane when a white car, driven by a 49-year-old woman, turned right and struck his vehicle. The force of the collision sent the motorcyclist's helmet flying and caused him to fall, hitting his head directly on the ground. His motorcycle then slid into a scooter waiting at the red light, operated by a 53-year-old woman. The male motorcyclist was found unconscious with severe head trauma, including swelling and fluid leakage from his ear and nose, and was rushed to the hospital. The female scooter rider sustained abrasions to her leg but was conscious and also received medical attention. Both drivers tested negative for alcohol. Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash and urged drivers to slow down at intersections, use turn signals, and yield to straight-moving traffic, especially noting the blind spots present when cars turn.
