Music | Chris Brown admits to violent behavior in Britain

American singer Chris Brown has admitted to committing violent behavior in a London nightclub, according to reports from Reuters and the BBC. The incident occurred on February 19, 2023, at the Tape nightclub in London's Mayfair district.

Prosecutors stated that Brown attacked music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle. Brown's co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also known as rapper Hoody Baby, pleaded guilty to assault. Both men are scheduled to be sentenced on October 26, 2026.

Initially, Brown and Akinlolu faced charges including attempted grievous bodily harm and assault. The BBC reported that Brown was also accused of possessing a tequila bottle as a weapon. However, after they admitted guilt for violent conduct, prosecutors dropped the remaining charges.

Brown was arrested in Britain in May 2025 upon his return to the country after the incident. This legal trouble adds to a history of allegations and legal cases involving violence for the Grammy-winning artist, who has sold over 140 million records worldwide. Notably, he previously admitted to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
