Nasdem Rejects KPK Proposal, Party Chairpersons Should Serve Based on Internal Democracy

The Nasdem Party has firmly rejected a proposal from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suggesting a two-term limit for political party chairpersons. Nasdem's leadership views this suggestion as an overreach into the internal affairs of political organizations, asserting that each party has its own established mechanisms, namely its Articles of Association (AD) and Bylaws (ART), to regulate leadership and term limits.

Saan Mustopa, the Deputy Chairperson of the DPP Partai Nasdem, articulated this stance, emphasizing that decisions regarding the tenure of a party chairperson are best left to the party's internal democratic processes. He argued that limiting terms uniformly across all parties fails to recognize the unique dynamics and needs of each organization. Nasdem believes that the party's own members are best positioned to determine who is the most suitable leader, irrespective of term limits, as long as the internal electoral process remains robust and fair.

For Nasdem, the internal democratic health of the party is the primary determinant of leadership, not an externally imposed numerical cap.
