Natalia Muñoz and Matías Dell Olio rule skateboarding in Barcelona

Natalia Muñoz and Matías Dell Olio took gold in the skateboarding finals at Extreme Barcelona, one of Europe’s leading urban sports events. The competition is being held this weekend at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.

Muñoz, from Cádiz, retained the women’s title she won last year. The 15-year-old made her Olympic debut at Paris 2024 and scored 81.57 points in the final. Catalan sisters Daniela and Ivet Terol completed the podium, with Daniela second on 79.30 and Ivet third on 72.15.

Daniela Terol, an Olympian and the Extreme Barcelona champion in 2018 and 2023, could not defend her title against Muñoz. The result gave Muñoz another victory in a competition that has become a major fixture for urban sports.

In the men’s final, Dell Olio succeeded fellow Argentine Mauro Iglesias as champion. The Mar del Plata skater, who also reached the final at the Paris Olympics, won with 121.66 points. Brazil’s Abner Pietro finished just 0.69 points behind on 120.97, while Argentina’s Nacho Lima took third with 119.62. Spain’s Danny León, an Olympian at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, also competed.

Street skateboarding was among the main attractions on a busy Saturday at Parc del Fòrum. The program also included BMX Freestyle Park, scootering and 3x3 basketball, along with the debut of Synkro Race, a hybrid fitness competition for pairs with 400 participants. Organizers hope to surpass last year’s attendance of 32,500 spectators and strengthen the international profile of the festival, which was founded 18 years ago.
