National Leaders' Values Equip Police for Service, Says Chief

Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that the values inherited from the nation's leaders serve as essential provisions for the National Police (Polri) in fulfilling their duties to the community, nation, and state.

Prabowo articulated these sentiments during a pilgrimage and flower-laying ceremony at the tomb of the second Indonesian President, Soeharto, in Astana Giribangun, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. This visit was part of a series of pilgrimages conducted by the Polri ahead of its 80th anniversary, Hari Bhayangkara.

Previously, Prabowo had also paid respects at the graves of the first President, Soekarno, in Blitar, and the fourth President, Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), in Jombang. This tradition is routinely observed as a form of respect and reflection on the contributions of past national leaders to Indonesia's journey.

During the ceremony at Astana Giribangun, Prabowo and his entourage offered prayers and scattered flowers at Soeharto's final resting place. Prabowo stated that visiting the graves of former presidents provides a moment to absorb and explore the leadership values they bequeathed to the nation. He believes these values are vital for the Polri to uphold and apply in their operational duties.

He added that the Polri has the responsibility to preserve and continue the values passed down by national leaders in safeguarding the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The spirit of struggle from previous leaders also serves as a source of inspiration for the Polri to enhance service quality and perform their duties professionally.
