Navua Officially Becomes Fiji's 14th Municipality After Decades of Advocacy

Navua has officially entered a new chapter as Fiji's 14th municipality, culminating over five decades of persistent advocacy by its residents. The journey toward town status began in 1973, with generations of people championing the cause for formal recognition.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka declared the occasion a historic milestone for the people of Navua. He emphasized that the declaration acknowledges the resilience and significant contributions of the community to the area's development. "For more than five decades, the people of Navua have carried the inspiration for their communities to be recognized as a town. That inspiration dates back to the 1970s," Rabuka stated.
