Nawal al-Degwi referred to forensic medicine in asset guardianship case

The New Cairo Family Court of Appeal has ordered a referral of Dr. Nawal al-Degwi to the Forensic Medicine Authority. This decision stems from a lawsuit initiated by one of her grandsons, who is seeking to be appointed guardian of her assets. The grandson alleges that Dr. al-Degwi's health has deteriorated significantly.

During the recent court session, arguments were presented by the legal representatives of both parties involved in the case. The attorney for Sherif El-Degwi, Dr. Mohamed Hamouda, requested that files from the murder case of Dr. Ahmed al-Degwi be retrieved and included as part of the current lawsuit's documentation.

Conversely, the defense team representing Dr. Nawal al-Degwi's two granddaughters sought an extension. They aim to delay the court's ruling until an official copy of the first-instance court's judgment can be obtained. The initial ruling had dismissed the guardianship lawsuit, a decision that prompted the grandson to file an appeal with the appellate court.
