Negeri Sembilan Election: PH Claims Lack of Notice on OCR-VA System, Fears Voting Disruption

The implementation of the Optical Character Recognition Voter Attendance (OCR-VA) system in the Negeri Sembilan state election has raised concerns among the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. Datuk Seri Amiruddin Harun, chairman of PH Negeri Sembilan, stated that his party was not informed about the system's deployment prior to the election.

"I think it should have been discussed with all candidates before its implementation because we don't know what is intended to be implemented and what can actually help," Amiruddin said after casting his vote. He expressed worries that the system could disrupt the voting process, potentially leading to longer queues and voter dissatisfaction. "We want the voting process to be fast, they don't have to wait too long and queue up."

Amiruddin's concerns were echoed by Datuk Muhammad Nazri Kassim, the PH candidate for the DUN Ampangan constituency. Nazri has submitted a formal protest letter to the Election Commission (SPR) chairman, the Negeri Sembilan Election Director, and the Ampangan District Returning Officer. In his letter, Nazri claimed that he, as a candidate, was never informed about the OCR-VA system and only learned about it through party members on election day.

Nazri argued that the implementation of this new system without any prior notification is prejudicial to candidates and their parties. He also believes it could negatively impact their campaign efforts on polling day. The PH coalition is advocating for improvements to the electoral process, emphasizing the need for transparency and timely communication with all stakeholders involved.
