In a significant development for the Kuomintang (KMT) in Taipei, neighborhood chief Li Yiru has emerged victorious in the primary election for the Zhongshan-Datong constituency's city councilor seat. This win, announced by KMT Taipei City Party Chairman Dai Hsi-chin, sees Li Yiru securing the final nomination spot, adding a dynamic new contender to the party's slate.

The primary race was closely watched, with Li Yiru competing against Central Committee member Lu Wei for the last remaining nomination. Under the KMT's system, which guarantees nominations for incumbent councilors Ye Linchuan, Chen Bingfu, and Liu Caiwei, the contest between Li and Lu was pivotal. Li Yiru's victory, bolstered by a 30% newcomer bonus in the public opinion poll, resulted in a weighted support rate of 68.66%, decisively defeating Lu Wei's 47.184% support.

Li Yiru, who previously served as a neighborhood chief in the Da'an district, expressed gratitude for the support received and pledged to work diligently towards the general election.
