Ñemby: Suspect in Several Home Burglaries Arrested

A man suspected of a home burglary in Ñemby was arrested in San Lorenzo, and police later recovered some of the items reported stolen from the house.

The burglary occurred on September 2 at about 11 p.m. at a home on San Nicolás Street near Caaguazú Avenue, in Ñemby’s Caaguazú neighborhood. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Juan José Caballero Verdún, reported the theft of two notebooks, a JBL speaker, a professional Canon camera, an Acer tablet, a Samsung A13 phone, a hair straightener, a hair dryer, clothing and shoes.

According to the Vista Alegre police station, security-camera footage helped identify the alleged perpetrator. Officers from the 31st Central Police Station later apprehended Juan Martínez Valiente Romero, 35, during another theft-related operation. Police said he has previous records for aggravated robbery, aggravated theft, possession and domestic violence. He also faced an arrest warrant issued by the Ñemby Prosecutor’s Office in connection with a similar case.

During the investigation, officers recovered a gray HP notebook inside a white plastic bag hidden in brush about 100 meters from the suspect’s home. Police said Martínez Valiente allegedly indicated where the computer was located while he was being held. He was placed at the disposal of the San Lorenzo court, and the Ñemby case was notified to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

That same Saturday, officers also apprehended 21-year-old Abigail Bordón, who had a pending arrest warrant in a theft case. Police said she was carrying a white-and-green Nike sports shoe that belonged to the victim.
