Nepal Mobilizes Helicopters for Flood Rescue in Rasuwa

Rescue operations are being ramped up in Nepal's Rasuwa district following devastating floods along the Bhotekoshi River. The Nepali Army, in coordination with private helicopter services, is set to begin airlifting injured and vulnerable individuals from affected areas early Thursday morning.

A high-level meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority convened to strategize the response. The decision was made to evacuate those injured by the floods and provide immediate medical attention at temporary camps being established at Nepali Army barracks in Dhunche, Rasuwa, and Bidur, Nuwakot. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Anand Kafle, confirmed that the priority is to ensure prompt medical care for all affected.

Critically injured individuals will be transported directly to Kathmandu for advanced treatment. The severity of injuries will dictate the order of rescue and medical prioritization. Meanwhile, essential relief supplies are already en route to the affected communities, being transported by road to the Nepali Army barracks in Bidur.

The government has significantly intensified its efforts, encompassing rescue, medical aid, and the distribution of relief materials, in response to the severe flooding that has impacted Rasuwa district.
