Netanyahu Rejects Ceasefire Roadmap: 'We Will Not Withdraw From Gaza'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel will not withdraw from its current positions in Gaza until Hamas is completely disarmed. In a video message posted on Facebook, Netanyahu emphasized his commitment to Israel's security interests. "We will not withdraw from the current line in Gaza until Hamas is completely demilitarized," he stated.

Netanyahu also revealed that while he believes U.S. President Donald Trump and his team can disarm Hamas, Israel has conveyed its objections to a roadmap for a ceasefire to the U.S. administration. This roadmap, announced by the Peace Committee, has been received by Israel, but its draft faces Israeli reservations.

Despite a ceasefire agreement reportedly taking effect on October 10, 2025, the Israeli military continues its attacks. Israel currently occupies about 70% of Gaza, confining Palestinians to less than 30% of the territory. The UN's High Representative for Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, had announced that Hamas accepted a detailed roadmap for the second phase of the ceasefire. U.S. President Donald Trump had also announced an agreement between the Peace Committee and Hamas for disarmament.

Hamas, along with other Palestinian factions, has indicated a positive approach to the negotiation process and the mediators' proposals for the second phase. However, Hamas stressed that ending Israeli attacks and establishing a timeline for agreed-upon points are fundamental conditions. The implementation of the second phase is contingent on Israel fully meeting its obligations from the first phase. The Gaza Administration National Committee has also completed its preparations to assume administrative control of the Gaza Strip.
