New island in Caspian Sea caught on video

A new island, named Rybachiy, has emerged in the northern Caspian Sea, approximately 500 meters east of Svyatoy Island and 30 kilometers from the village of Bautino in the Mangystau Region. The island's appearance was captured on video, showcasing the new stretch of land.

Experts note that new land areas have been forming in the northern Caspian over the last four to five years as water levels decline. These formations are particularly common near islands such as Kulaly, Morskoy, Svyatoy, Podgorny, Usharal, Mayakshykan, and Dolgiy, which are habitats for Caspian seals.

The islands in this part of the Caspian are primarily inhabited by wolves, with wild boars and badgers also present. The coastal waters and islands teem with various species of fish and birds. The Kazakh government has allocated 1.1 billion tenge to study and preserve the Caspian Sea, with funds directed to the Kazakh Research Institute of the Caspian Sea for comprehensive monitoring and scientific capacity building.
