New Ukraine, US, and European Plan Drafted to End War with Russia

A new plan, conceived with input from the United States and European nations, outlines a potential path to ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the proposal involves a ceasefire and a mutual withdrawal of forces, creating a buffer zone in the territories left behind.

Zelenskyy explained that Ukrainian and Russian forces would retreat from their positions, establishing a buffer zone managed by a third party, an idea he attributed to the U.S. This plan also incorporates security guarantees from the European Union and NATO, detailing steps Ukraine is prepared to take. "This is what is on the negotiating table today," Zelenskyy stated, indicating the seriousness of the proposal.

The Ukrainian president also noted that the U.S. has additional proposals for ending the conflict, awaiting an opportune moment for disclosure. He suggested that diplomatic efforts could realistically conclude the war by the end of summer 2027, before the U.S. presidential elections complicate the negotiation process. Zelenskyy anticipates that allies will intensify their actions following the G20 summit in Miami in December 2026.

However, Moscow has not yet shown readiness to accept such a plan, having previously rejected ceasefire proposals and continuing to insist on its own terms, including the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas. Russia's stance suggests significant hurdles remain before any resolution can be reached.
