Nigeria needs faithful leaders, not Muslim or Christian president in 2027: Idowu-Fearon

Nigerians should look beyond religious identities when selecting political leaders for the 2027 general elections, urged Bishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon. The former Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide emphasized the need for faithful leaders, irrespective of whether they are Muslim or Christian.

Idowu-Fearon, who also founded the Kaduna Centre for the Study of Christian-Muslim Relations, believes that a leader's character and commitment to service should be the primary criteria for selection. His call encourages voters to focus on integrity and competence rather than religious affiliation, aiming to foster a more inclusive and effective political landscape.

As a prominent figure in interfaith dialogue, Idowu-Fearon has consistently worked towards promoting understanding and cooperation between Christian and Muslim communities. His past role as Chairman of the Kaduna State Interfaith Advisory Council highlights his dedication to building bridges and fostering peace within Nigeria's diverse society.
