Nigerian agency investigates Enugu Air aircraft runway excursion

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into a runway excursion involving an Enugu Air Embraer E170 aircraft at Benin Airport. The aircraft, operating as Flight 4264 from Lagos, overran Runway 05 during its landing at approximately 3:10 p.m. local time on Tuesday.

NSIB confirmed that all 63 passengers and five crew members aboard the aircraft were safely accounted for, with no injuries reported. The Bureau's Go Team was promptly deployed to the site to gather evidence, interview flight and ground crew, examine the aircraft, and assess runway conditions. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and relevant airport authorities have been notified, and the aircraft has been secured.

Enugu Air acknowledged the incident via its X account, confirming that the aircraft experienced a "runway incursion after landing." The airline reiterated that all passengers and crew disembarked safely without injuries or casualties. The airline noted that the incident might lead to temporary adjustments in flight schedules as an assessment of the aircraft and circumstances is underway. NSIB plans to issue a preliminary report within 30 days.
