Niš Students Rally Support for Firefighters Battling Wildfires

Students at the University of Niš, Serbia, have initiated a drive to gather essential supplies for firefighters and volunteers engaged in combating recent wildfires. The campaign, organized by students present at the university blockade, calls on citizens to contribute to the relief efforts.

Donations are urgently needed and include medical items such as gauze and saline solution, bandages, as well as practical supplies like T-shirts, gloves, bottled water, and non-perishable food. Specifically requested are items like bonžita (a type of biscuit) and chocolate-free cookies.

The collection points are set up in the evenings, from 7 PM to 10 PM, outside the "Kalča" shopping center and near the clock in Saint Sava Park. This initiative highlights the students' commitment to supporting those on the front lines of the fire-fighting efforts.

In their appeal shared on social media, the students expressed gratitude for the community's support, noting that this is the second year they have actively assisted in protecting homes, wildlife, and the environment. Their powerful closing statement, "We don't have a state, but we have each other," underscores a sentiment of solidarity and self-reliance in the face of adversity.
