NSCDC warns Lagos pupils against cultism, bullying

In a proactive move to foster a secure learning environment, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has issued a stern warning to pupils of Guided Path School. The corps is actively engaging with students to instill awareness about the dangers of cultism, bullying, and other social vices that can disrupt school safety and negatively impact their futures.

The commandant noted that the corps remains dedicated to protecting educational environments across the state.

During a sensitisation visit and interactive session held at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, State Commandant Mr Adedotun Keshinro reaffirmed the command's unwavering commitment to safeguarding school children, teachers, and the wider school communities. The NSCDC emphasized its dedication to protecting educational spaces across the state, working collaboratively with stakeholders under the Safe School Initiative to achieve this crucial objective.

The pupils were sensitised on school safety, the statutory roles of the NSCDC, and the importance of discipline within and outside the school environment.

The interaction provided a valuable platform for the pupils to gain insights into the NSCDC's operations, understand their statutory roles, and learn about the importance of discipline. Officials highlighted the perils associated with cultism, bullying, substance abuse, harassment, and assault, strongly advising the students to steer clear of behaviors that could jeopardize their academic pursuits and overall well-being.

They were also educated on the dangers of cultism, bullying, smoking, harassment, assault, and other social vices, with officials advising them to shun behaviours that could endanger their future.

The visit, which included 17 pupils and three teachers, was designed not only to educate but also to expose the students to the functions and structure of the corps. The Director of Guided Pathway School, Mrs Lasaki Rizqah, expressed her gratitude for the impactful and educational engagement, noting that it significantly enhanced the pupils' understanding of school safety, civic responsibility, and national security. This initiative exemplifies the NSCDC's ongoing efforts to build public awareness and strengthen the vital partnership between security agencies and educational institutions in Lagos State.
