NU Cadres Urged to Protect Organization's Dignity and Independence Ahead of Muktamar

As Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) prepares for its 35th Muktamar in Jombang, a prominent official has issued a strong call for members to safeguard the organization's integrity and autonomy. KH Hilmy Muhammad, a Katib Syuriyah of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (PBNU), stressed the importance of resisting any external political pressures or interventions.

Muhammad, who also leads the Krapyak Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta, stated that the sovereignty of the Muktamar participants must be upheld. He believes that decisions made during the congress should genuinely stem from considerations for the welfare of the community and the long-term future of NU. "Anyone who tries to dictate, pressure, or interfere in the organization's internal affairs must be treated as a common enemy seeking to disrupt NU's unity," he asserted in a written statement.

Muhammad views the Muktamar attendees as NU's thinkers and fighters, entrusted with a mandate from various levels of leadership. Therefore, they possess the freedom to make choices guided by their conscience and the organization's best interests.
