NU Congress Discusses Concept of 'Ianatun Nadzar'

The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress in Jombang, East Java, has made the concept of 'I'anatun Nadzar' a central focus for its Bahtsul Masail Maudluiyah Commission. This specialized session aims to review and potentially revise decisions previously established by the NU's central leadership through its congresses and national assemblies.

K.H. Cholil Nafis, chairman of the commission, explained that 'I'anatun Nadzar' had been discussed previously at a National Congress of Ulama (Munas). The current congress provides an opportunity to gather further input from participants, known as 'muktamarins,' to solidify the resulting resolutions. This iterative process ensures that the organization's decisions are robust and widely accepted.

According to K.H. Aniq Nawawi, a reviewer for the Bahtsul Masail at the Munas, existing organizational decisions are not immutable. They can be re-examined if new, stronger considerations emerge. Furthermore, evolving social realities and advancements in legal interpretation methodologies necessitate periodic evaluation of established rulings.

This tradition emphasizes the need for the organization to remain responsive to contemporary societal issues and challenges.

Parallel commission sessions at the congress cover a range of topics, including religious, factual, and legal matters, as well as organizational affairs, programs, and recommendations. The outcomes of these commission deliberations will proceed to plenary sessions for approval, including the procedural aspects of electing the next chairman.
