A brazen daylight robbery on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway has resulted in the loss of Tk 57 lakh (approximately $50,000 USD) in cash, after armed robbers intercepted a bus carrying bKash sales representatives.

The incident occurred around 1:45 PM in the Dumdumia area of Teknaf upazila. According to Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam, the robbers blocked the highway using a large log studded with nails, forcing the bus to stop. A group of masked and armed individuals emerged from nearby hills, boarded the bus, and held passengers at gunpoint.

The targeted victims were three bKash sales representatives: Arman, 24, Sakib, 21, and Ekram, 22. They had withdrawn the cash from the Teknaf branch of Shimanto Bank and were transporting it to agents in Hnila and Whykong unions. When Arman attempted to resist the robbery, he was stabbed, while the other two employees were assaulted. The attackers then fled towards the surrounding hills.

Members of the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Coast Guard have been deployed to the area. A joint operation is underway to locate the robbers' hideouts in the hills, recover the stolen money, and bring the perpetrators to justice. Local residents have suggested that the gang may include both locals and individuals from the Rohingya community.
