The High Court has granted bail to former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, also identified as Chandan Kumar Dhar, in two separate legal cases. However, his release from custody is not imminent as he remains arrested in connection with other ongoing cases.

The bail was granted by a bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher. The cases in which bail was granted were filed at the Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram, alleging attempted murder and obstruction of police duties. The court has scheduled August 16 to hear two additional bail petitions submitted by Brahmachari.

According to his lawyer, Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya, Brahmachari has been incarcerated since November 25, 2024, and is accused in a total of six cases, which include charges of murder and sedition. He has previously secured bail in three other cases through High Court and lower court proceedings.

Despite these bail orders, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has placed a stay on a High Court decision that had granted Brahmachari bail in a sedition case, indicating the complexity and severity of the charges he faces.
