Ogun State Appoints Six New Permanent Secretaries

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries, a move aimed at bolstering the state's civil service leadership and advancing public sector reforms. The appointments, announced Friday by Head of Service Mr. Iskeel Saka, address vacancies left by retiring officials.

These new appointees successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a mandatory prerequisite for top public service roles. The selection process prioritized merit, professionalism, and inclusiveness, aligning with constitutional provisions. The individuals appointed include Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi, Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi, Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo, Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida, and Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele, each bringing experience from various ministries and agencies.

The appointments were made in line with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), following due consideration of merit, professionalism and inclusiveness.

Before their appointments, the new Permanent Secretaries held significant positions. Dr. Sokunbi was Director of Hospital Services, Akinwunmi served in Chieftaincy Affairs, Sowunmi focused on investments, Ogunbo managed rural water supply projects, Idowu-Agida handled administration in the Bureau of Government House, and Ayodele was Director of Urban Development. Their diverse backgrounds are expected to contribute to a more efficient and responsive public service.

Head of Service Saka stated that the appointments underscore the Abiodun administration's commitment to institutional strengthening. The new officials have been urged to exhibit exemplary leadership, integrity, and dedication. They are expected to play a key role in the ongoing transformation of Ogun State's civil service and support the delivery of effective governance under the administration's "Building Our Future Together" agenda. Governor Abiodun will officially swear them in at a date yet to be announced.
