Olaf Tufte's Funeral to Feature Musical Tributes from DDE and Others

Norway is preparing to bid farewell to its celebrated rower and television personality, Olaf Tufte, at his funeral service to be held at Horten Church on Friday, July 31, 2026. Tufte's sudden passing on July 20 at the age of 50 has sent ripples of grief throughout the nation's sporting community and beyond. He died at his home, Tufte Farm, from acute cardiac arrest. Found unconscious around 3 p.m. on July 20, Tufte received immediate medical attention and was transported to the National Hospital, but sadly, his life could not be saved. The news of his death deeply shocked many, including fellow athletes and competitors. Several prominent artists are slated to perform tributes during the funeral. Bjarne Brøndbo of the band DDE announced they would perform a rendition of "Det umulige er mulig" (The Impossible Is Possible), a song he felt resonated with Tufte's repeated achievements against the odds. Actor and singer Jannicke Kruse is also scheduled to sing. Olaf Tufte leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of Norway's most decorated rowers. He secured two Olympic gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, participating in seven Olympic Games from 1996 to 2021. Beyond his athletic career, Tufte was a vibrant personality, establishing an activity center at his farm, launching a clothing brand, and achieving success in reality television, winning "71 grader Nord" in 2014 and "Mesternes Mester" in 2023. He also appeared in "Forræder" and "Helvetesuka" last year.
