Olimpia's squad grows with another return

Olimpia, the reigning Paraguayan champions, are strengthening their squad with the return of midfielder Javier Domínguez, who had been competing in Argentina.

Domínguez, 26, rejoins the club with the approval of coach Pablo “Vitamina” Sánchez. He made 13 appearances for Atlético Tucumán in the Argentine top flight. Before his stint in Argentina, Domínguez played 33 matches, scoring one goal for Olimpia in both domestic league and Copa Libertadores fixtures.

This return adds to Olimpia's recent signings, which include Argentine forward Braian Romero and New Zealander defender Tim Payne, who is expected to arrive soon. The club has also welcomed back several other players, including Víctor Sebastián Quintana, Pedro Zarza, Paulo Riveros, Julio Alexis Vargas, and Domínguez himself.

In other squad movements, left-back Alexis Cantero will be loaned to Sportivo Luqueño. The club also confirmed the departures of several players who were part of the Apertura 2026 championship-winning team. Olimpia is scheduled to begin their Clausura championship campaign against Libertad on Sunday, July 26.
