Olivia Rodrigo Defends Planned Parenthood Against Trump Policies

Singer Olivia Rodrigo has renewed her public support for Planned Parenthood, an organization providing reproductive health services and advocacy in the United States. Rodrigo's backing was showcased in a video shared on the Instagram account for Daisy Chain Fields, her women-only music festival.

The video reveals that nearly 30 Planned Parenthood health centers have closed since President Donald Trump enacted the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which officially rescinded federal funding for the organization. The accompanying music, "My Way," played as Rodrigo and other women appeared with serious expressions before dancing, with on-screen text stating, "but we will never stop fighting for sexual and reproductive healthcare."

Rodrigo has a history of supporting Planned Parenthood, having received the Catalyst of Change Award from the organization in 2025. Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, expressed gratitude for Rodrigo's engagement in advocating for reproductive healthcare, especially as access to services faces unprecedented threats.

Rodrigo has also criticized Trump on other occasions. In June, she condemned his administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after her song was used without permission in a deportation propaganda video, calling the agency's actions "barbaric and cruel."

Trump signed the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" into law on July 4, 2025. The legislation not only removed funding for Planned Parenthood but also cut federal Medicaid funding, making it harder for women to access affordable healthcare. However, Trump had previously expressed support for Planned Parenthood in a 2016 press conference.
