Oluwo Lauds Tinubu Over Approval of Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road Repair

His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving the comprehensive reconstruction of the vital Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road. This landmark decision is hailed not only as a major relief for the people of Iwoland but also as a personal burden lifted from the monarch, who has long advocated for the road's rehabilitation.

The road is critical to improving the economic and commercial activities of Iwoland. The stress associated with transporting goods will become history when the road is fully reconstructed. It will also further lubricate the existing bilateral relationship between Osun and Oyo states.

The monarch lauded the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, for his instrumental role in facilitating this crucial approval. Oba Akanbi emphasized that the reconstructed road will significantly enhance economic and commercial activities within Iwoland, easing the transportation of goods and strengthening the socio-economic ties between Osun and Oyo states. The deplorable condition of the road had, for years, posed considerable challenges to motorists, traders, and residents alike.

The President has given us part of the dividends of democracy through this approval. On behalf of over 35 royal fathers under my domain, socio-cultural groups, artisans and the entire people of Iwoland, we sincerely appreciate Mr President for hearing our plea.

Oba Akanbi recalled the road's neglect for nearly a decade before his ascension to the throne in 2015. He detailed his personal efforts in maintaining the Osogbo-Iwo axis, including clearing vegetation and mobilizing resources for temporary rehabilitation. The President's approval for full reconstruction marks a definitive end to years of hardship and neglect, promising a brighter economic future for the region.

The Osogbo-Iwo axis of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road had been abandoned for almost 10 years before my ascension to the throne in 2015. Upon my enthronement, I cleared the bushy sections, mobilised materials, including cement, and rehabilitated the dilapidated road.
