Oman and Rwanda reaffirm commitment to strengthening bilateral ties

Oman and Rwanda are opening new avenues for partnership across politics, investment, transport and digital technology as Kigali and Muscat build on diplomatic ties established in 1982.

The next major step will be the official visit to Oman by Rwandan President Paul Kagame. The visit is intended to advance mutual interests and broaden cooperation between the two countries.

Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe visited Oman from January 10 to 11, 2026, leading a delegation that included the ministers responsible for information and communication technology, finance, infrastructure, and the chief executive of the Rwanda Development Board. The delegation held talks with Omani ministers on expanding bilateral relations.

Those meetings produced several agreements and cooperation programs. They covered transport, communications and information technology, including a memorandum between the Rwanda Development Board and Oman Airports Management Company on airport development and management, professional expertise and potential aviation infrastructure investments.

The two sides also signed a program on logistics services, inland ports and supply chains, as well as a program covering data centers, cloud computing, infrastructure and artificial intelligence. In April 2025, Oman and Rwanda signed a memorandum on telecommunications and digital economy cooperation during Oman’s participation in an artificial intelligence summit in Kigali. SalamAir also announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Kigali.
