Oman Cables Targets Data Centre Boom With New Power Cable

Oman Cables Industry is preparing to launch a low-voltage power cable aimed at a region building larger data centres and expanding its electricity infrastructure. The company will showcase its OCI-UltraFlex product at the three-day Middle East Energy 2026 exhibition in Dubai, which opens on September 1.

The launch comes as governments and private investors commit heavily to artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital transformation. Oman Cables said regional data centre capacity is expected to grow from about 1 gigawatt today to 3.3 gigawatts by 2030. That expansion is increasing demand for power systems that can serve facilities with heavy electricity requirements.

OCI says the new cable is designed for applications where flexibility and efficient routing are important. The company is presenting it as suitable for high-density facilities, including data centres, where operators want to use space efficiently while maintaining reliable networks. It will also display other products for data centres and wider power infrastructure projects.

Erkan Aydogdu, the company’s chief executive, said electrification, renewable energy and data centre growth were changing expectations for regional power systems. He said customers increasingly wanted tailored solutions rather than traditional cable products, as Gulf countries attract hyperscale data centres, expand renewable energy and modernize electricity networks.
